I was inspired by a trip to the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. There I witnessed la danza del venado, a spiritual dance highlighting the cycle of hunter and prey. With this painting, I sought to reflect on spirituality across various cultures through a barely disguised nod at Rothko.
